PhD in France :
Participation in a PhD programme in France consists in training in and through research and innovation.
Enrolment through a Doctoral School is mandatory. The main aims of doctoral schools are to ensure that doctoral candidates have a support structure for professional development, career planning and preparation to enter the academic, research or alternative career labour market.
The research work is carried out in an affiliated research laboratory and the doctoral training and supervision during the thesis are ensured by the Doctoral School.
The standard duration of a PhD is three years after completion of a Master’s Degree or equivalent and results in a Doctoral Degree diploma.
PhD preparation and defense can be done in French or in English.
