Research units

At the heart of AgroParisTech, research and innovation are performed in a strong framework of partnership, ensuring favourable working conditions for the scientific staff and contributing to the openness and quality of the scientific and innovation activities of the Institute.

Whether regional - as in the strong regional dynamics of AgroParisTech campuses and centres - national, European or international academic partnership is a key element of the research at AgroParisTech. This partnership may take several forms, the most common and structured of which is that of joint research units (JRUs). There are 24 joint research units jointly affiliated to AgroParisTech and other research organisations active in the same subject areas (Inra, Irstea, Cirad, CNRS, IRD, universities). These 24 joint research units include 90% of the Institute scientists. The other scientists working in research areas not covered by these 24 units carry out their research in other structures more consistent with their research domains, thereby also helping to enrich the dynamics of partnership.

AgroParisTech includes also a R&D unit (ABI) which is dedicated to innovation of agroresources, by-products and industrial effluents. This structure, located on the site of the Bazancourt-Pomacle biorefinery close to Reims, at the heart of the European Biotechnology and Bioeconomics Centre (CEBB), is supported by several local institutions.
