Research and Innovation

Research at AgroParisTech

AgroParisTech’s research activity is consistent with a dual approach of academic excellence and engineering research.

AgroParisTech contributes to research in the areas of agricultural issues, forestry, food and the environment of tomorrow.

Areas of research

  • Living systems
  • Agroecosystems, forests, landscapes
  • Natural resources
  • Food, nutrition and health
  • Carbon materials, synthons, energy
  • Social systems

In each of these areas, the institute’s ambition is to have leading academic teams on a wide range of themes. The combination of these two strategic orientations enables the institute to ensure :

  • the quality and diversity of teaching materials, necessary to achieve its teaching objectives ;
  • conditions favorable to the fulfillment of the research mission of its staff ;
  • national and international recognition.

Active academic partnerships

Research cooperation in France is done in by ‘Grandes Ecoles’, universities and specialized research institutions and research centers.

In AgroParisTech as also in othe ’Grandes Ecoles’ teaching staff is doing research in addition to the teaching. AgroParisTech is organised in 24 joint research centres (UMR), which are the corresponding teaching institutions.
One of the priorities is the dialogue with socio-economic partners. 22% of research contracts are concluded with the private sector (origin of finances : contracts signed in 2012).

Moreover the transfer of technology and innovation is highlighted (e.g. patents and licences, innovative research projects)

AgroParisTech is part of various Chairs in teaching and research.

Active partnerships with the following research centers in France :

  • INRA : National institute of Agronomic Research (framework convention and various research activities within 17 joint research units & co-supervised theses)
  • CIRAD : Center for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development
  • IRSTEA : National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture
  • CNRS : French National Centre for Scientific Research
