TETIS (Land, Environment, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information)

General scientific orientation

The TETIS joint research unit contributes to the production of knowledge, tools and methods for improving our understanding of the structure, function, dynamics and interactions of human-environment systems. TETIS implements an integrated approach to the chain of spatial information, from its acquisition to its processing, management and use by various actors. Its research is designed to assist the various stakeholders in the management of territories and resources.
As a pluridisciplinary research unit, it aims to generate pertinent information useful for decision-making, as part of a general objective to promote the rational management of lands, coastal zones, natural, forest and agricultural resources. TETIS dedicates a large proportion of its activity to academic teaching (masters in geomatics, PhD), professional training (specialized masters course, SILAT, CEA, short training courses, including some in the southern hemisphere), expert advice and public policy support, based on its research.

Fields of research

The unit consists of four research teams :
The remote sensing and spatialized observations data acquisition and processing team (Attos)
♦ Advance the development and application of geospatial information technology (remote sensing, geographic information systems, global positioning systems, modeling through computer simulations), to tackle problems at various spatial scales, from local to global
♦ Study the integration of knowledge from ecology, agroenvironmental systems and territories into the application of techniques and methods for detecting, identifying, characterizing and monitoring areas and structural objects at various scales
♦ Contribute to the specifications of new acquisition systems based on aerospatial data
♦ Develop methods for signal and image processing for various environmental applications

Spatial analysis and modeling team (Amos)
♦ Valorize and develop explanatory and/or predictive modeling methods and tools
♦ Study the spatial organization of systems, the uncertainty of data and modeling results, the construction of spatialized indicators and the development of a tool for simulating landscape dynamics

Spatialized information system, modeling, extraction and diffusion of data and knowledge team (Siso)
♦ Carry out computing research into the management of spatialized and complex environmental data, with the aim of dealing with issues relating to the management and mining of large data volumes and flows, and the structuring and use of information

Use of spatial information and governance team (Usig)
♦ Develop concepts, methods and tools for the use of spatial information in decision processes and collective actions, particularly at territorial level
♦ Improve our understanding of environment/society interactions, the organization of governance systems and the place of information in these systems
